ST.CECILIA'S ACADEMY OF MUSIC

St.Cecilia is the patron saint of musicians. Our academy,named after this saint, was started around 1970 by Mr.Arokianathan. He is Fondly called as the 'Big master' of our academy. But he is the King-maker of this Academy. His son, Mr.Camilus Selvanathan,fondly called 'Camy Sir', developed the academy in a large scale. Though the academy was started in 1970, it was formally inaugurated on October 10,2006. For the Past 3 years, the academy is conducting its Annual Concert. Started with around 5 students, now the academy runs with more than 120 students enlightening the people of Salem in the field of Music. Almost 70-80 students appear for the Music Exams Conducted by Trinity Guildhall,London every year. The academy covers up Musical syllabuses of Classical Guitar,Electric Guitar,Recorder,Violin,Viola,Cello,Piano and Electronic Keyboard. The academy is Planning to introduce syllabuses of Duet Piano & Vocal Examinations. Since the Academy is purely Western-Classical Music Oriented, students are with Western classical music and ideologies.
The academy's library consists of several books, dated as old as published in 1940s. The students can also avail a lots of Music Audio,Video Collections.

THE ACADEMY WISHES TO TRAIN MANY MORE STUDENTS IN THE FIELD OF MUSIC, AND IT HAS A LONG MUSICAL DISTANCE TO COVER.............
